Growing the Network: Protecting and Maintaining High Conservation Value Areas- North-West
- Date & Time: Saturday, 18 July 2026 at 10:00 am
- Venue: Forth Community Hall, 680 Forth Road
- Description: Organised by Landcare Tasmania as part of their 2026 Outreach series. This session focuses on "Growing the Network," educating local landholders and volunteers on the practical methods used to manage, protect, and maintain high conservation value zones in the North West region.

- A warm invitation to all land managers, land owners, farmers and community members in Tasmania to come and learn about protecting and maintaining High Conservation Value Areas in the North-West of Tasmania (HCVA's)*.
  If you are interested in how natural capital supports biodiversity, climate resilience, water quality, farm productivity as well as national and international biodiversity targets, then come and learn about ways to protect these special areas and support for their maintenance.
  This event brings together Landcare Tasmania, the Private Land Conservation Program, Tasmanian Land Conservancy, Conservation Landholders Tasmania, and Lydon O'Neill from Healthy Country Services with land managers across Tasmania to support and strengthen the network of people caring for High Conservation Value Areas (HCVAs).
  *HCVA includes areas with threatened species & vegetation, healthy intact vegetation, riparian areas, wetlands and vegetation linkages within the landscape. This event is for people caring for both covenanted and non-covenanted high conservation value areas.

- Burnie Seed Library Interactive Session
- Date & Time: Tuesday, 7 July 2026 at 4:30 pm
- Venue: Burnie Library, 30 Alexander Street, Burnie, TAS 7320
- Description: A community-led session focused on local gardening and permaculture. Participants share seasonal plant knowledge, learn seed-saving techniques, and exchange seeds suited for the current winter climate.
- Cost: Free.

Hi @everyone

We've had a growing group of volunteers over the last year, lots of work has been done to produce a lot of food and have regular meet-ups for everyone who likes to garden together!

We have begun talking a bit about the group's vision, goals, what we can provide for the community and what we would like to see in the community. Our group is looking to incorporate in the future to have the ability to apply for grants. If anyone would be interested in that side of things, now is a great time to get involved.

Our vision for how we wish to engage and benefit the community has been summed up as follows:

Shared equipment/equipment library

Workshops & community learning

Seed saving & seed library

Repair cafe

Challenges/competitions (eg pumpkin or radish growing competition)

Art & craft

Environmental projects (eg insect hotels)

Celebrations (harvest party .etc)

Communal cooking & processing of harvests

We are looking hear from others about what they would be interested in seeing in the community and also if someone feels they have something to provide that fits this vision.

Permission to Trespass (Table Cape)

- Venue: Table Cape and various North West agricultural sites
- Description: A curated event that opens usually restricted gates to showcase the region's stunning landscapes and deep cultural heritage. It highlights sustainable agro-tourism and the environmental stewardship of local farmers.

NAIDOC Morning Tea (Cradle Coast)

- Description: Hosted by the Riawunna Centre to mark NAIDOC Week. This event celebrates Indigenous land connection, histories, and community leaders advocating for sustainable local changes.
