Culture Club - Fermentation Workshop

Venue: United @ 43 an inclusive community hub and all-abilities accommodation located at 43 Goldie Street, Smithton, Tasmania, operating out of the Smithton Uniting Church
An initiative of Smithton Sustainable Living Hub.
The principal of fermentation is not to preserve food so much as to keep it alive! Watch wild yeasts, microbes and bacteria flourish and bubble as they work to enrichen, transform and enliven.
Roll up yourselves for a hands-on learning experience as we share the traditional art of live fermented food.
This workshop will cover – sauerkraut, sourdough starter, wild soda and apple cider vinegar. Take home recipes and samples of your own ferments.

To participate in the AGM and/or stand for a position, you must be a financial member of Permaculture Tasmania. You are entitled to vote if:
you are a current financial member
you are a lifetime member
your membership rights have not been suspended for any reason.
Nominations must be completed by Friday 25 September, 5pm AEST.

Crop Swap NW Tasmania: An online and community-focused group where regional residents connect to exchange homegrown fruit, vegetables, and seeds locally. You can find updates or join via the Crop Swap NW Tasmania Facebook Group.
Permaculture Tasmania Gatherings: Regional branches host seasonal crop swaps and garden tours across northern and north-west areas, such as occasional events held nearby in the Meander Valley at locations like Elvenhome Farm. Check the Permaculture Tasmania Events Page for scheduled meetups.
Local Community Gardens: Groups supported by organisations like Live Well Tasmania in Wynyard coordinate local sharing tables, surplus exchanges, and food security networks.

We look after the mixed orchard at the RESEED Centre, learning and enjoying working together. Bring some lunch to share and your enthusiasm, join us for a Sunday morning in the garden at the RESEED Centre.
